I am so ready to get my bathroom remodeled and back in order!

The Plan:   head to Lowe's tomorrow to order my bathroom vanities. After MUCH research, looking, procrastinating, looking some more, I think I've landed on "the look." And in this moment I am daring to put it on paper so I can document the journey and see how close I come with the final product. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind (which I sometimes do!)

Goal:  a soft modern / traditional blend with clean lines and a classic look that I will love for years. We do NOT want to do this again.

Answer:  floating vanity

{bathroom reveal #2}

I’m calling 2012 the year of the bathroom. We renovated the "kids" bathroom in April, see April 28 blog {guest bathroom reveal} which was a planned DIY project. Love that bathroom, do take a peak!      

However, last week I had a spontaneous moment, and well, let's just say this blog is all about that whim!

We'll call it Bathroom Reveal #2. Like I said we didn’t intend on doing anything to the downstairs half bath but it kinda had that domino effect once I started. See May 20 blog {good, better, best} when I mentioned that it all simply started with spray painting the mirror and door knob! Ha!

Old look…nothing wrong with it…red toile which is classic, timeless.

And though I liked the toile, I am so happy that I followed the "whim" because it spiraled into such a great new look.

Since this renovation wasn’t planned and therefore not in the “budge” it was important to keep the cost to a minimum. I scanned my Pinterest boards, proceeded to Michael’s, and landed on my inspiration piece: scrapbook paper! Yep, that’s right! $.59 inspiration. I chose 3 complimentary designs, grabbed canvas frames, and headed to Lowe’s for grey paint.

There’s something to be said for FRESH and  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the grey and orange!

{guest bath reveal}

My first purchase for our bathroom renovation was a curved shower curtain rod, inspired from a stay at the Westin Hotel. I thought aloud, “I will get one of these!” feeling like this find was not just for a luxury hotel experience! Most rods add about 6 inches of elbow room, an easy “kick it up a notch” consideration for your bathroom face lift.

Horizontal paint stripe. Love. The clean, crisp stripe makes the room feel bigger and adds visual interest, no artwork needed.

There are plenty of on-line tutorials and google images for painting stripes. This isn't a task for the faint-hearted perfectionist... it does take time, not gonna lie. Would I do it again? Yes.

Towel baskets and toilet paper holder. Allows flexibility in placement and not your "ordinary" look. 

Hanging a clock in the bathroom…why didn't I think of that sooner…aren’t we always wondering how much time we have left to get ready?

One simple hook near the shower for convenience in grabbing your towel!

Guest Tip: Perhaps your overnight guest forgot something? Keep an under-the-sink, help-yourself basket for those “I forgot my _____” occasions. Easy. Thoughtful.
